Jerusalem Fans Attacked by Maccabi Tel Aviv Supporters After Match, Two Injured

Following the Premier League match between Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv on August 23, a group of Maccabi fans violently attacked Jerusalem supporters near the stadium. The incident involved about 20 assailants approaching a car carrying Jerusalem fans, questioning them about their belongings, spraying them with pepper spray, breaking the car window, and stealing bags. Subsequently, another group of around 20 masked individuals assaulted fans with clubs and threw stones, resulting in injuries that required ambulance evacuation for some victims. The entire episode lasted approximately ten minutes. Two injured Jerusalem fans were taken to the hospital. One victim described the attack and criticized the police response, stating that Israeli police arrived 15 minutes later but left without collecting any testimonies. Video footage circulating on social media showed a small group of Maccabi supporters rioting after the game.
