Eyal Berkowitz questioned by police after clash with activist Mordechai David
Radio host Eyal Berkowitz appeared on Monday at the Glilot police station to give his version of an incident involving right-wing activist Mordechai David. The case stems from a widely circulated video showing David lying on the hood of Berkowitz’s SUV while Berkowitz continued driving a short distance. Police are examining both the conduct of those involved and the circumstances of the episode.
David had already filed a formal complaint and told investigators that his life had been in real danger. He said, “If I had not been strong enough, I would have fallen into the road and been run over.” In the clip, posted on social media, David can be heard saying, “Berkowitz is blocked. That’s it, we won.”
According to the report, Berkowitz was previously summoned to give testimony but did not come because of what was then described as personal constraints. He came to the station only now, days after David filed the complaint.
The confrontation is part of an ongoing dispute between the two. After an earlier incident in which Berkowitz’s car was blocked, he was asked in interviews how he would react if he faced a similar situation again, and he replied, “Next time I will keep driving.” The new footage has been interpreted as a real-world enactment of that statement, prompting the police review.
