Berkovich says he was ambushed in confrontation with Mordechai David
Eyal Berkovic was questioned under caution by police in Givatayim after a roadside confrontation with right-wing activist Mordechai David, in which Berkovic kept driving while David sat on the hood of his car to stop him. New details of the case were published by N12, including Berkovic’s version of events.
According to Berkovic, David opened the car door, shoved a phone inside, and began shouting insults. He told investigators that the incident was not initially violent, but that he became confused and did not know how to react. Berkovic said, “They ambushed me,” explaining his decision to keep moving.
He described the scene as “two cars and two motorcycles” surrounding him, and said David then jumped onto the hood. Berkovic said he was afraid to stop because David could fall and be run over. “I didn’t know what to do,” he said, according to N12.
Police said that, in addition to the former footballer, another person involved in the incident has been summoned for questioning. David himself was questioned under caution last week. The case remains under police investigation.
