Eyal Berkowitz says he was ambushed in road clash with right-wing activist
Israeli broadcaster and former football star Eyal Berkowitz has given his version of a confrontation with right-wing activist Mordechai David that led to a police warning interrogation at Glilot station. The incident involved Berkowitz driving his car while David sat on the hood in an attempt to stop him. N12 reported new details from the investigation on June 15, 2026, including Berkowitz’s account of what happened.
According to Berkowitz’s statement to investigators, David opened the car door, shoved a phone into the vehicle and began shouting at him, but he said the exchange was not initially violent. Berkowitz said he drove off because he was confused and did not know how to react. He described the situation as an ambush, saying, “They came at me and ambushed me.”
Berkowitz also said there were two cars and two motorcycles involved, and that when David jumped onto the hood, he was afraid to stop because David could fall and be run over. Police said that, in addition to Berkowitz, another person involved in the case has also been summoned for questioning.
David himself was interrogated under warning last week. The case remains under police investigation.
