Alon Ziv Appointed Head Coach of Ironi Tiberias Ahead of Premier League Opener
Ironi Tiberias has officially appointed Alon Ziv as their new head coach as the team prepares for the upcoming Premier League season. The club will face Hapoel Petah Tikva in their opening match this Saturday. Following a 3-0 defeat to Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Toto Cup ranking games, Ironi Tiberias signed Ziv, who will work alongside Moti Krispil. Although Krispil does not hold a professional coaching license, he will continue to play a significant role in guiding the team and shaping its professional direction.
The club decided against reinstating Eliran Hodeda as head coach this season due to his pending trial at the Sports Arbitration Court over alleged involvement in a match-fixing scandal. Consequently, Ziv emerged as the leading candidate and finalized his contract with the northern club. Ziv has coached in the National League in recent years and began the current season as head coach of Maccabi Jaffa.
Other coaching candidates mentioned included Kostika, who coached Hadera towards the end of the 2024/25 season and has Premier League experience, and Weizinger, a longtime youth coach for Maccabi Haifa and currently with M.S. Ashdod in the National League, who was linked to Hapoel Afula. Ironi Tiberias continues to build its coaching staff as it aims to improve its performance in the top division.
