Israeli Cyclist Found Dead in Finland After Week-Long Search

The body of a 66-year-old Israeli man who went missing during a solo cycling trip in Finland was found by the roadside about a week after contact was lost. Finnish police suspect he was struck by a passing vehicle. After the man disappeared, local authorities conducted a search that ended with the discovery of his body. Following the confirmation, ZAKA's international unit began coordinating with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the deceased's family, and Finnish authorities to complete local procedures and arrange for the repatriation of his remains to Israel for burial.

Haim Wengarten, ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, stated that from the moment they received the report, they have been supporting the family and working with Finnish officials to finalize the necessary arrangements. Efforts continue to ensure the deceased is returned to Israel promptly and with dignity. ZAKA's international team remains actively engaged with relevant Finnish entities to complete the required processes for the transfer of the body.
