Israeli Man Dies in Finland After Solo Cycling Trip, Family Reports Missing

A 66-year-old Israeli man who went on a solo cycling trip in Finland was found dead by the roadside about a week after his family lost contact with him. The family reported him missing to local Finnish authorities, who launched a search operation. According to initial assessments, the man was likely struck by a passing vehicle during his ride. Upon confirmation of his death, the international unit of ZAKA, an Israeli emergency response organization, began coordinating with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Finnish authorities to arrange the repatriation of his body to Israel for burial. ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, Haim Wengarten, stated that from the moment they received the report, they have been supporting the family and working to ensure the necessary procedures are completed promptly and respectfully to bring the deceased back to Israel.
