Israeli Cyclist Found Dead in Finland After Week-Long Search

A 66-year-old Israeli man who went on a solo cycling trip in Finland was found dead by the roadside on Sunday, about a week after his family lost contact with him. Finnish police suspect he was fatally struck by a passing vehicle during his ride. After the family reported him missing, Finnish authorities launched a search, which ended with the discovery of his body.

Following the report, ZAKA's international unit began coordinating with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finnish authorities, and the deceased's family to manage the necessary procedures. Their goal is to repatriate the cyclist's remains to Israel for burial. ZAKA's Operations Deputy Director, Chaim Wengarten, stated that from the moment they received the report, they have been supporting the family and working with Finnish officials to ensure the proper arrangements are made to bring the deceased home respectfully and promptly.
