Stormy Weather Brings Rain and Flood Warnings in Eastern Israel

Starting Sunday afternoon, local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected primarily in eastern Israel, with significant flood risks in the Judean Desert, Dead Sea, northern Arava, and northeastern Negev. The Israel Police have issued warnings urging the public to avoid high-risk areas such as riverbeds and hiking trails due to potential flash floods and life-threatening conditions. The alert period extends from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Sunday's weather will be partly cloudy to clear with little change in temperatures, ranging from 18 to 31 degrees Celsius in Jerusalem and up to 41 degrees in Eilat. On Monday, partly cloudy skies will continue with a slight temperature drop below average in the mountains and inland, easing the heat. Local rain may again occur mainly in the east. Tuesday is forecasted to be partly cloudy to clear with stable temperatures.

The police emphasize planning travel routes carefully to avoid dangerous zones during the stormy conditions. The warnings come amid ongoing concerns for public safety in flood-prone areas during the seasonal weather changes in Israel.
