Chabad Singer Witnesses Rescue Attempts for Child Left in Hot Car in Lod

Rabbi Avi Menachem, a singer from the Chabad community in Lod, witnessed rescue efforts for a five-year-old boy, Betzalel David Giller, who was tragically left in a car under the scorching sun and later died at Assaf Harofeh Hospital. Menachem described the scene as one of the most painful and shocking experiences of his life, observing the rescuers' desperate attempts to save the child. The boy was forgotten in the vehicle in his neighborhood on Tzemach Tzadik Street, and was found unconscious about two hours later by his father. Emergency teams provided initial medical aid before transferring him to the hospital, where doctors declared his death.

Menachem refrained from detailing the distressing conditions inside the car but emphasized the critical importance of preventing such incidents. He urged parents to use reminders, vehicle checks, and alert systems to avoid future tragedies, stressing that this is not a matter of blame but of shared responsibility and compassion for the grieving family. He concluded with a prayer for no further sorrow and only good news.

This incident highlights the deadly risk of leaving children unattended in vehicles during summer, as temperatures inside can rapidly soar to 50-60 degrees Celsius or higher. The Israeli police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the boy's death.
