Israel Faces Prolonged Heatwave With Temperatures Peaking Midweek

Israel is experiencing a continuing rise in temperatures, with a significant heatwave expected to persist through the coming week. On Monday, the country will see hotter-than-usual and very dry conditions inland. The heatwave is predicted to peak on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius in the mountainous regions, 37 to 38 degrees in the coastal plain, and an extreme 45 to 46 degrees in the Jordan Valley. Temperatures will begin to decline slightly by Thursday but will remain above average for mid-August.

This past week marked the hottest day in Israel in the last year, with a severe heatwave affecting all parts of the country. In the south, temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius along the Dead Sea, Arava, and Eilat. The highest recorded temperature was 44.7 degrees Celsius at the meteorological service station in Sedom around midday, the highest since last August's heatwave.

The ongoing heatwave highlights a trend of rising temperatures across Israel, with no immediate relief expected until late in the week. Residents are advised to prepare for the intense heat and dry conditions expected to continue.
