Israel Faces Intensifying Heatwave with Extreme Sun Exposure and Rising Temperatures

On Saturday, Israel will experience little change in temperatures but an increase in heat stress across most regions. The maximum solar radiation index is expected to be very high to extreme, while the Mediterranean Sea will be choppy with wave heights between 70 centimeters and one meter. Extreme heat stress is forecasted in several areas including southern Golan, northern valleys, the Kinneret basin, the Dead Sea, the Jordan Valley, Arava, and eastern Negev. Heavy heat stress will affect the coastal plain, the Shephelah, Carmel region, and western and lower Galilee.

Sunday will bring a slight temperature rise and further intensification of heat stress nationwide. On Monday, temperatures will climb again, with hotter and drier conditions in the mountains and inland areas, while the coastal plain will remain mild. Heavy to extreme heat stress will persist across most parts of the country. Tuesday will continue to be hotter than usual and dry in the mountains and inland, with mild conditions along the coast, and ongoing heavy to extreme heat stress.

Forecasted temperatures for Saturday night and Sunday include Jerusalem at 20-30°C, Tel Aviv 26-31°C, Haifa 25-31°C, Safed 20-31°C, Katzrin 22-36°C, Tiberias 24-36°C, Nazareth 23-34°C, Afula 24-34°C, Beit She'an 27-38°C, Lod 25-32°C, Ashdod 25-31°C, Ein Gedi 28-38°C, Beersheba 23-33°C, Mitzpe Ramon 21-32°C, and Eilat 29-40°C.
