Hapoel Petah Tikva Fan Assaulted by Security Guard During Match, Speaks from Hospital

Liam Talcar, a 22-year-old Hapoel Petah Tikva fan, was assaulted by a security guard during the match against Maccabi Netanya on Wednesday evening. Speaking from his hospital bed at Beilinson Hospital, Talcar described how the incident unfolded during halftime. While trying to help a young boy near the fence, a security guard suddenly struck him on the head with a baton, causing bleeding. Talcar initially thought he had been punched but realized the injury was more severe when he touched his head and found it bleeding.

Talcar recounted that the same security guard had been hostile from the start, demanding fans empty their pockets despite them carrying nothing. He criticized the guard's aggressive and disdainful behavior, questioning the league management and security companies for allowing such individuals to work at football venues. Talcar expressed concern for the safety of children attending sporting events, emphasizing that these places should be fun and secure.

He also shared the emotional moment when he met his younger brother after being taken to the ambulance, who showed him videos of the attack circulating online. Talcar highlighted the guard’s cruel gaze during the assault, underscoring the betrayal felt when those meant to protect fans act violently.
