Violent Clashes Erupt Between Hapoel Petah Tikva Fans and Security Staff in Stadium

Severe confrontations broke out on August 5 at the Shlomo Biton Stadium in Petah Tikva between Hapoel Petah Tikva football fans and security personnel. The violence escalated after fans reportedly directed racist remarks at the security staff, who responded by throwing chairs. During the clashes, one security guard was filmed striking a fan with an iron rod, causing the fan to be hospitalized in moderate to mild condition.

The incident began when security guards asked members of the fan organization to leave a stage that had previously been approved for their use. The fans refused, leading to verbal abuse from the security personnel and a rapid escalation into physical violence. Several fans attacked security guards with punches, and some were injured by thrown objects, including a fan who was hit on the head with a blunt object and another struck by a broken chair.

Police forces, including riot control units, intervened to restore order. Three security guards were arrested, including the one who struck the fan with the rod, identified as a resident of East Jerusalem. The stadium's security manager was instructed to hand over all security personnel identification to the police for investigation. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between fans and stadium security at Israeli football matches.
