Israel Football Association Chief Condemns Violent Incident at Toto Cup Match

Shinu Zohar, chairman of the Israel Football Association, strongly condemned the violent incident that occurred at the Moshava Stadium in Petah Tikva during a Toto Cup match. The incident involved a security guard physically assaulting a Hapoel Petah Tikva fan on the field, resulting in the fan being hospitalized. Zohar described the event as "outrageous and illogical," emphasizing that those responsible for maintaining order should never harm fans.

Following the incident, Zohar coordinated with the Israel Police and called for a comprehensive reform of security measures at sports events, including personnel deployment and treatment of fans. He revealed that the matter has been escalated to government officials and discussed with Sports Minister Miki Zohar during a ceremony in Zebulon, expressing confidence in collective efforts to implement significant changes.

Zohar also sent well wishes to the injured fan and expressed his intention to meet with him once he recovers to assure that such an incident will not recur. The security guard suspected of assaulting the fan with a metal rod has been arrested. The incident has sparked widespread outrage within the football community and renewed calls for addressing security protocols at sporting events in Israel.
