IDF says it uncovered and is destroying Hezbollah tunnel network under Beaufort Ridge
The IDF said it is continuing to clear a subterranean tunnel network beneath Beaufort Ridge in Lebanon and is now destroying the underground route it found there. In footage released on Saturday evening, the army showed items and infrastructure discovered inside the site.
Among the finds were maps that the IDF said illustrated the tunnel threat to northern Israeli communities. The army said that in one of the underground routes, where militants who tried to flee were found and were later killed in an airstrike several days ago, maps were discovered on a wall showing operational control over the area and its impact on settlements in northern Israel.
The IDF said the tunnel network was planned and financed by Iran's regime of terror. It added that the operation was launched to gain operational control over an area that threatens Israeli civilians and to enable the destruction of the tunnel network.
