IDF Dismantles Tunnel Network Under Beaufort Ridge in Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces said it has been clearing an underground tunnel network beneath the Beaufort Ridge in Lebanon in recent days. In video released by the army on Saturday evening, soldiers were shown uncovering equipment and other materials inside the site.

Among the findings were maps that the IDF said illustrate the tunnel threat to northern Israeli communities. The army said that in one of the underground routes, where militants who tried to flee were located and were later killed from the air a few days earlier, maps were found on a wall showing control of the area over northern settlements.

The IDF said the tunnel network was planned and financed by Iran's regime. It added that the operation was launched “to achieve operational control over the area that threatens the citizens of the State of Israel and to enable the destruction of the tunnel network.”
