IDF Says Deep Lebanon Operation Dismantled Hezbollah Infrastructure Near Israeli Border
The IDF said on Friday that the 769th Brigade combat team, operating under the 91st Division, completed an operation in the southern Lebanese village of Debbin in recent weeks. The village sits about 12 kilometers inside Lebanon, north of the forward defense line, in an area the military said Hezbollah used to advance terror plots against Israel.
According to the IDF, Debbin served as a major Hezbollah base for preparing attacks and for readiness to fire anti-tank missiles at Israeli territory and at IDF troops operating in the sector. During the operation, called "Roar of the Lion," more than 30 militants were killed from the air in the area, and dozens of Hezbollah terror facilities were destroyed.
The brigade operated alongside the Air Force, which struck more than 50 targets. The IDF said the strikes destroyed additional terror infrastructure and uncovered significant weapons storage sites. It also said airstrikes were used to eliminate militants active in the area as part of efforts to remove threats to northern Israeli communities and to forces along the border.
The army said operations in southern Lebanon are continuing as part of the campaign against Hezbollah, and that it will keep acting to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel.
