IDF Completes Operation to Clear Hezbollah Underground Infrastructure in Beaufort Ridge

After months of operational activity in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has completed the clearing of two Hezbollah underground infrastructures located in the Ali Taher ridge in the Beaufort area. Forces from the 36th Division have gained operational control of the area and engaged militants operating within these tunnels.

During the operation, militants who were active within the infrastructures were eliminated, while others fled the area. The IDF stated that this operation has denied Hezbollah the ability to carry out terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces from these specific locations. The underground complex, which took approximately two decades to build with joint funding and planning by Hezbollah and Iran, included command centers, weapons storage rooms, generator rooms, living quarters, showers, and a kitchen.

According to the IDF, these facilities served as a strategic underground network used by the "Badr" unit for combat management, operating fire systems, and planning terror attacks against Israel. The tunnels were continuously active during Operation "Northern Arrows" and Operation "Lion's Roar" until the IDF's recent actions degraded the organization's capabilities in the region.

The control of the area was achieved through a series of offensive actions, including ambushes, attacks on tunnel shafts with gunfire and grenades, drone operations, and artillery strikes. Following the clearing of militants, ongoing efforts are focused on neutralizing the remaining underground infrastructure. IDF forces will then redeploy based on the situation assessment to continue their defensive mission in the southern Lebanon security zone.
