IDF Completes Hezbollah Tunnel Clearing Operation in Southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the completion of an operation to clear Hezbollah's underground infrastructure in the Al-Taher mountain ridge area of southern Lebanon. Forces from the 36th Division secured operational control of the area, both above and below ground, eliminating some militants and forcing others to flee.
The ongoing operation aims to neutralize the cleared underground facilities, which include command posts, weapons storage rooms, generator rooms, living quarters, showers, and kitchens. These strategic installations, developed over two decades with funding and planning from Iran, enabled militants to conduct operations and remain in the area for extended periods. The IDF stated that the cleared infrastructure was used to execute terror plans against Israel and its forces.
Following the operation, the IDF will re-establish defensive positions based on ongoing threat assessments. The military reiterated its commitment to continuing operations in southern Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah from advancing terror plans against Israeli civilians and soldiers.
