IDF Completes Clearing Hezbollah Tunnels in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that its forces have completed clearing Hezbollah's underground infrastructure in the Ali Taher mountain range in southern Lebanon. The IDF's 36th Division forces have gained operational control of the area, both above and below ground, eliminating some militants and forcing others to flee. The operation to neutralize the cleared underground structures is ongoing.

According to the IDF, these tunnels served as a strategic asset built over two decades, funded and designed by Iran. They contained command centers, weapons storage, generator rooms, living quarters, showers, and kitchens, enabling militants to conduct operations and stay in the area for extended periods. The IDF stated that these facilities were used to execute terror plans against Israel and its forces.

The IDF emphasized that the recent operations have neutralized the ability to carry out terror attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers from these tunnels. Following the completion of the neutralization efforts, the IDF will re-establish defensive positions based on the current situation assessment.

The military reiterated its commitment to operating in southern Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah from advancing terror plans and vowed to respond with force to any attempted actions by the organization against IDF forces. The IDF also affirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
