Iran and Oman Make Progress in Negotiations Over Strait of Hormuz Passage

Regional sources report to Kan News that negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding passage through the Strait of Hormuz are advancing, with Oman expected to make further concessions to reach an agreement soon. Israeli sources indicate that if progress continues, other issues under discussion, primarily Iran's nuclear program and uranium stockpiles, will remain unresolved and unclear in terms of future negotiations. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed in a government meeting that talks with Oman are in their final stages before concluding. Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Iran and Oman are discussing an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz, with Oman proposing a regional framework to oversee maritime security funded by regional countries and maritime and oil transport industries. Iran has considered this proposal but insists on controlling the strait and collecting tolls, contrary to Oman's and the United States' positions. Mediators are currently working to secure a ten-day ceasefire that would include reopening the strait and lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports.
