Police Extend Detention of Eldar Dayan's Friends Amid Investigation into Hod Hasharon Fight

The court extended the detention of Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, friends of Eldar Dayan, by four more days as part of an ongoing investigation. According to a police source, Barberman remains silent and uncooperative during questioning, while Peretz speaks minimally and has already been caught lying. On July 18, Dayan, Peretz, and Barberman traveled from Dimona to central Israel and arrived at a park in Hod Hasharon, where a fight broke out between Dayan and his two friends. Peretz and Barberman left the scene in Barberman's mother's car, leaving Dayan behind, but later returned to the location. All three were reportedly under the influence of drugs throughout the incident.

Dayan introduced his friends to a group of five men at the park, which escalated into a brawl between the two groups. At one point, Peretz attempted to run over one of the men with the car, causing minor injuries to the victim, who struck the windshield in response, damaging it. Dayan's involvement in the fight was relatively limited. One of the five men testified that Peretz and Barberman threatened to kill Dayan. Currently, Peretz and Barberman face charges including obstruction of justice, assault causing injury, threats, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The Central District Police and the prosecution are expected to advance toward filing an indictment regarding the fight within the next week and a half. Dayan has been missing for about three weeks; police believe he is alive and has gone into hiding after driving without a license and hitting a friend. The fight is being investigated by the Central District Police, while Dayan's disappearance is under the Negev District Police's inquiry.
