Nighttime Closures Planned on Ayalon and Coastal Highway for Signage Work This Week
Three consecutive nights of road closures are scheduled this week on Israel's Coastal Highway (Highway 2) and Ayalon Highway (Highway 20) for nighttime work installing signage as part of the "Fast Lanes" project. The first closure will occur overnight from Monday to Tuesday, August 3-4, 2026, between midnight and 5 a.m. On Highway 20 northbound, the section between Rokach Interchange and KKL Interchange will be closed. Drivers will be diverted off at Rokach Interchange, while the northbound entry from KKL Interchange will remain open.
The second closure is planned overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, August 4-5, 2026, on the Coastal Highway southbound between Poleg Interchange and Wingate Interchange. The entrance from Poleg Interchange southbound will be closed, with drivers redirected via Route 553 and then Route 4.
The third night of closures, from Wednesday to Thursday, August 5-6, 2026, will expand to the Netanya area on Highway 2 southbound between Netanya Interchange and Gesher HaShalom Interchange. The entrance from Netanya Interchange will be closed, and traffic will be diverted through Herzl Street and Ben Zvi Boulevard before rejoining the Coastal Highway.
During these works, temporary changes to public transportation routes and station locations near the closures are expected. The Ministry of Transportation advises drivers to check updates in advance and use navigation apps to find alternative routes.
