Night Closures Set on Main Road to Ben Gurion Airport

The Israel Airports Authority said Thursday that Road 40 near Ben Gurion Airport will be closed at night beginning immediately and continuing through Sunday, June 28, because of large-scale infrastructure work by Israel Railways. The work is part of the Eastern Railway project and will make the airport’s main access road unavailable for several hours each night.

The closures will run from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night, on the section of Road 40 between the El Al Junction and the Dor Alon, Ben Gurion Airport Junction. During the daytime, Road 40 will operate normally.

Travelers coming to the airport from Airport City or Shoham during the closure hours are advised to use Route 1 and the fast gate, or alternatively Route 46 and then the Lod, Petah Tikva gate. Drivers leaving the airport eastbound should exit via the Lod, Petah Tikva gate.

The authority said the Lod, Petah Tikva gate will remain open to all passengers, and urged travelers to plan ahead and use navigation apps so they can reach the airport on time for flights.
