Coastal Highway and Ayalon Highways Closed Overnight for Several Nights This Week
The Israeli Ministry of Transport and Netivei Ayalon announced overnight closures on major highways this week for construction work under the "Fast Lanes" project. Between midnight and 5:00 a.m., sections of Highway 20 (Ayalon) and Highway 2 (Coastal Highway) will be completely closed on multiple nights.
On the night of August 3rd, the northbound Ayalon will be closed between Rokach Interchange and KKL Interchange. Traffic will be diverted to exit at Rokach, while entry northbound from KKL will remain open. On the night of August 4th, Highway 2 southbound will be closed between Poleg and Wingate interchanges. Southbound entry from Poleg will be blocked and rerouted via Highway 553 and Highway 4, but northbound entry from Poleg and southbound entry from Wingate will remain open.
On the night of August 5th, Highway 2 southbound will close between Netanya Interchange and Gesher HaShalom Interchange. Southbound entry from Gesher HaShalom will remain open, but entry from Netanya will be blocked, with traffic diverted through Herzl Street and Ben Zvi Boulevard to Gesher HaShalom.
Netivei Ayalon urged drivers to plan ahead, use navigation updates, and choose alternate routes to avoid the closures. These closures are part of the ongoing "Fast Lanes" project, which opened initial sections on Ayalon in April, currently reserved for buses, with further sections expected to open later.
