Major Road Closures Near Netanya Overnight for Highway Project
Netivei Ayalon, the Israeli road authority, announced temporary closures on Highway 2 near Netanya during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, September 8-9, 2026. The closures are part of the "Fast Lanes" project, specifically for installing signage on overhead bridges. The work is scheduled to take place between midnight and 5:00 AM to minimize disruption to drivers.
During this period, Highway 2 southbound will be closed between the Netanya Interchange and the Gesher HaShalom Interchange in Netanya. The southbound entrance from the Netanya Interchange to Highway 2 will also be blocked. Traffic heading south from the Netanya Interchange will be rerouted via Herzl Street and Ben Tzvi Boulevard until the Gesher HaShalom Interchange.
However, southbound access to Highway 2 from the Gesher HaShalom Interchange will remain open as usual. Netivei Ayalon stated that the work has been coordinated with the police and is being conducted overnight. Public transportation routes and station locations will also be adjusted during the work hours. Drivers are advised to use Waze for navigation and can contact the "Kol Kav" hotline at *8787 for more information.
