Major Road Closure Tonight Affects Southbound Highway 2 Near Netanya
Drivers in the Netanya area should prepare for a significant temporary closure of Highway 2 southbound tonight, between Tuesday and Wednesday. The closure is part of ongoing work on the "Fast Lanes" project, specifically involving the installation of signage on overhead bridges.
According to Netivei Ayalon, the company managing the project, the highway will be closed to southbound traffic from midnight until 5:00 AM. The affected stretch runs between the Netanya Interchange and the Gesher HaShalom Interchange within Netanya.
During the closure, entry to Highway 2 southbound from the Netanya Interchange will be blocked. Drivers will be rerouted via Herzl Street and Ben Tzvi Boulevard, leading them to the Gesher HaShalom Interchange. However, access to Highway 2 southbound from the Gesher HaShalom Interchange will remain open.
Public transportation routes and station locations in the vicinity may also be altered during the work hours. Passengers are advised to check public transport apps for updates. Netivei Ayalon stated that the work has been coordinated with the Israel Police and is scheduled for nighttime hours to minimize disruption to drivers and traffic congestion.
Drivers are recommended to check traffic conditions before departing and use navigation apps like Waze to find alternative routes based on real-time traffic.
