IDF and Shin Bet Kill Hamas Terrorist Linked to Hostages Romi Gonen and Noa Marziano

On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet conducted an operation in Gaza City that resulted in the killing of Abd al-Rahim Abd al-Hadi Youssef Kardi, deputy head of a Hamas military cell and a doctor at Shifa Hospital. Kardi infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and was involved in holding hostage Romi Gonen and IDF soldier Noa Marziano. Gonen was held in Gaza and at Shifa Hospital, while Marziano was held in Gaza City after her murder until her body was recovered by the IDF. Throughout the conflict and especially recently, Kardi continued to orchestrate terrorist attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. He was considered a significant threat and was eliminated in an airstrike.

Romi Gonen was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, during the Nova Festival massacre and was released after 471 days in captivity as part of a Hamas-Israel agreement in January 2025. Noa Marziano, an IDF soldier serving as an observer in the Border Defense Corps’ 414th Battalion, was abducted from Nahal Oz outpost during the same October 7 attack and was killed in captivity at Shifa Hospital. Her body was recovered by Israeli forces and buried in Israel in November 2023.
