IDF and Shin Bet Kill Senior Hamas Terrorist Holding Israeli Hostages in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced the killing of Abd al-Rahim Abd al-Hai Yusuf Kardi, a senior Hamas terrorist and deputy squad leader in the organization's military wing. Kardi also served as a doctor at Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The operation took place on Thursday in the Gaza City area.
Kardi was involved in the abduction of Israeli hostages Romi Gonen and Corporal Noa Marziano, who was killed by Hamas. He held Gonen in the Gaza Brigade area and at Shifa Hospital, and Marziano in the Gaza City Brigade area until her body was recovered by the IDF. Kardi infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and continued to orchestrate terrorist attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians throughout the conflict.
The IDF and Shin Bet emphasized that Kardi posed a significant threat to Israeli forces and civilians and was eliminated in an aerial strike. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue operations to neutralize all threats against Israel.
