Israeli Hostage Romi Gonen Reacts to Killing of Terrorist Who Held Her Captive

Romi Gonen, an Israeli woman who survived captivity by Hamas, responded to the Israeli military's announcement of the killing of the terrorist who held her hostage. In a social media post over the weekend, Gonen revealed that the terrorist entered the shower with her just four days after her abduction during the October 7 Hamas attack. She described him as the first terrorist to destroy her innocence and soil her soul. Although she acknowledged that his death would not erase the trauma she endured, she said justice was served and declared, "This terrorist is now in hell - until the last one of them!"

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that on Thursday, they killed Abd al-Rahim Abd al-Hai Yusuf Kardi, deputy head of a Hamas military cell and a "doctor" at Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Kardi infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and was involved in holding Gonen and the late Corporal Noa Marzano captive in Gaza. Marzano was killed during the attack, and her body was later recovered by the IDF.

Gonen has previously shared with the media that during her captivity, she suffered multiple sexual assaults and constant threats from her captors. She described living in fear, with her privacy completely violated and subjected to humiliation and control attempts. Her statement following the terrorist's death reflects both the personal pain she experienced and the broader Israeli sentiment of seeking justice against Hamas militants.
