Israeli Police Arrest Suspect for Threatening Channel 12 Journalists and Vandalizing Entrance

Abraham Hadi, a man in his 40s from Ramat Gan, was arrested on suspicion of threatening journalists at Channel 12 and deliberately damaging the station's entrance door. The arrest took place on Thursday following an intensive investigation by the Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District Police, in cooperation with the Ayalon Cyber Unit and the Shin Bet security service. Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended his detention until the upcoming Monday.

The investigation began after a routine police patrol on July 28 discovered significant damage to the glass door of Channel 12's building on HaHashkalah Boulevard in Tel Aviv, along with a threatening letter left near the entrance. Due to the severity of the threats and concerns for the safety of media personnel and public figures, the case was assigned to the Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District. Authorities conducted several days of evidence collection, including reviewing security camera footage.

This incident marks the second similar attack on Channel 12 within a month. About three weeks earlier, a masked individual threw a stone at the station's entrance door and fled. Additionally, threatening graffiti targeting the station's employees was sprayed on the building walls weeks ago. Following these repeated attacks, Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke with Police Commissioner Major General Dany Levi, emphasizing the seriousness of violence against the media and condemning the use of intimidation to silence voices in Israeli society.
