Israeli Prosecutors Charge Man for Throwing Bricks at Media Offices and Threatening Journalists

Abraham Hadi, a resident of Ramat Gan in his 40s, is facing imminent indictment after being charged with property damage and extortion by threats related to a series of attacks on media offices and the Ministry of Justice in Tel Aviv. Over July 2026, five incidents involved bricks being thrown at the entrances of buildings housing News 12, Haaretz, Israel Hayom, and the Ministry of Justice, causing damage and raising concerns about targeted intimidation linked to media coverage.

The investigation, conducted by the Tel Aviv District Police, intensified after a key event on July 28, when a masked individual smashed the entrance door of News 12 and left a handwritten threatening letter. The letter demanded an apology regarding the Shde Yemeni affair and warned that future attacks would be directed at media and public figures by name, concluding ominously, "Eventually someone will die."

Police used technological surveillance and covert operations to identify Hadi, who was arrested on July 30. Evidence including clothing and other items linking him to the crimes was seized from his home. Throughout the investigation, Hadi exercised his right to remain silent. His detention has been extended multiple times as additional evidence was gathered.

Following weeks of inquiry and examination of all five incidents, the police have completed their investigation and filed a prosecutor's statement against Hadi. He remains in custody while the prosecution prepares to formally indict him in the coming days.
