Tel Aviv Court Extends Detention of Suspect in Threats Against Channel 12 News

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Abraham Hadi for an additional three days on Monday. Hadi, a resident of Ramat Gan in his 40s, is suspected of involvement in a series of attacks against media outlets, including damaging the entrance door of Channel 12 News offices and leaving threatening letters at the scene. This marks the second extension of his detention following police claims that evidence against him has strengthened recently, raising concerns about potential interference with the investigation and public safety.

Hadi was initially arrested last Thursday on suspicion of property damage and issuing threats against journalists and public figures. The arrest followed a routine police patrol on July 28, when officers noticed damage to the glass door of Channel 12's office building on HaHashkala Boulevard in Tel Aviv. Near the entrance, a threatening letter targeting public figures and media personnel was found. Investigations suggest Hadi caused the damage by throwing stones at the entrance doors before fleeing the scene, leaving the threatening letter behind.

Judge Yaron Gat ruled that investigative actions since the previous hearing have reinforced the reasonable suspicion against Hadi, justifying the continued detention. The police emphasized the seriousness of the threats and the risk of obstructing the investigation if Hadi were released.
