Suspect Arrested for Throwing Bricks and Threatening Channel 12 News Staff in Tel Aviv

The police arrested a suspect on Thursday in connection with throwing bricks at the Channel 12 news building in Tel Aviv and leaving threatening letters targeting its staff. Earlier this week, the glass doors of Channel 12's newsroom were smashed for the second time this month by a masked individual who also left a note warning, "Next time the brick will be aimed at one of your heads. Take this letter seriously because eventually someone will die."

These incidents are part of a broader wave of hostility against the media in Tel Aviv. This month, the entrance door of the Haaretz newspaper offices was also vandalized by a masked person who threw bricks at the glass doors and fled. In recent months, hateful graffiti targeting Channel 12 journalists has been sprayed near their offices, including messages accusing them of betrayal and threatening violence.

In response to the vandalism and threats against media outlets, Israel Police Chief Danny Levi stated last week during a situation assessment that no harm to any media organization or journalists performing their duties would be tolerated. The police continue to investigate the incidents amid growing concerns over escalating intimidation against the press.
