Israeli Court Extends Detention of Main Suspect in Benyahu Razi Murder Amid Ongoing Investigations

The Jerusalem District Court has extended the detention of Aviaor Sasson, the primary suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Benyahu Razi, who was apprehended after a three-week manhunt. Sasson was arrested yesterday while traveling by taxi near the Harel Tunnel at Jerusalem's entrance, with assistance from the Jerusalem Central Unit and aerial support. During his escape, Sasson reportedly hid in various locations across northern and central Israel.

Alongside Sasson's detention extension, the court also prolonged the custody of a minor and three other suspects linked to the case, while releasing another suspect under restrictive conditions. Concurrently, police continue to investigate a prison service officer suspected of aiding Sasson during his flight. The officer, serving at a central Israel detention facility, is accused of obstruction of justice and breach of trust due to a personal relationship with a prisoner connected to Sasson, allegedly assisting him while on the run.

This development follows earlier inquiries into a traffic policewoman who was questioned last week for allegedly meeting two suspects shortly after the murder without reporting it. The murder case began three weeks ago when Razi was fatally stabbed in a premeditated ambush at a guest apartment in Jerusalem's Nahalat neighborhood. Several suspects have been arrested, including Razi's ex-partner and others believed to be involved in planning and executing the crime. Authorities continue to clarify each suspect's role in this shocking incident.

Police spokesperson Rotem Hila Zaken emphasized the ongoing efforts to identify and prosecute all individuals involved or who obstructed the investigation.
