Jerusalem Court Extends Detention of Suspect in Benyahu Razi Murder Case Amid Revealing Chats

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Agam Tzarfati, a suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Benyahu Razi, by one week on July 29, 2026. During the hearing, incriminating WhatsApp messages between Tzarfati and her friend Shilat Huta, also a suspect, were disclosed, indicating premeditated intent. One message stated, "He dies today," referring to Razi. Another message from Tzarfati to Razi insulted him and threatened his friends.

Authorities revealed that while in custody, Tzarfati and Huta attempted to coerce the minor sister of the main suspect, Aviaor Sasson, to falsely confess to the murder to receive a lighter sentence. The minor refused to cooperate. Sasson, who was on the run for over two weeks, was arrested near Jerusalem’s entrance on July 28 and is scheduled for a detention extension hearing.

The murder occurred about two and a half weeks prior in an Airbnb apartment in the Nahalat neighborhood of Jerusalem. Razi was found stabbed to death during a gathering involving four people: Razi, a friend who was also stabbed, and two young women, including Tzarfati, Razi’s ex-girlfriend. It is alleged that Tzarfati called her brother on the night of the murder, leading to a group assault on Razi. The murder was reportedly live-streamed to the two women outside the scene, who then helped suspects flee.

Additionally, a prison officer was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the investigation and breach of trust. Police suspect she had a romantic relationship with Sasson’s stepbrother, an inmate, and allegedly allowed Sasson to use her phone to hide his location during his escape.

Several suspects, including minors, were arrested after a large police manhunt, with Sasson remaining at large until his recent capture.
