Netanyahu Meets Trump at White House to Discuss Iran and Regional Security

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the White House on Tuesday for a scheduled meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. The primary focus of their discussions is the ongoing campaign against Iran and the continuation of strategic cooperation between the two countries. According to the New York Post, Netanyahu plans to present Trump with new sensitive intelligence regarding developments at Iran's Mount Makuh.

A White House official told Fox News that the leaders will also address progress in the trilateral talks involving Lebanon and the expansion of the Abraham Accords. Israeli officials expect the U.S. administration to renew significant military pressure on Iran, potentially including intensified airstrikes, though Netanyahu is cautious not to appear as pushing the U.S. into an unpopular war ahead of American elections.

In addition to Iran, the two leaders are set to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip. Jerusalem anticipates that Trump will officially declare Hamas as the party violating agreements by refusing to disarm. The talks will also cover negotiations with Hezbollah in Lebanon and the contentious F-35 fighter jet deal with Turkey, which remains a concern for Israel.

Vice President Mike Pence will participate in the meeting, and Netanyahu aims to hold separate discussions with him and Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also at the White House, raising the possibility of a trilateral conversation among Netanyahu, Trump, and Zelensky, signaling a united front against the Iranian axis following Ukraine's recent strike on an Iranian drone ship.

Contrary to some reports, U.S. officials clarified that no preconditions or Israeli concessions regarding Gaza were required for the meeting. In fact, Netanyahu had previously postponed the meeting for various reasons. After their talks, the leaders and their delegations will attend the funeral ceremony of Senator Lindsey Graham, a key figure in the close Israel-Washington relationship.
