Netanyahu's US Visit Focuses on Iran and Regional Security, Not a Game-Changer

Israeli political commentator Yaakov Bardugo described Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming visit to the United States as an important but routine working trip rather than a dramatic event that would fundamentally alter regional dynamics. The visit, marking Netanyahu's eighth meeting with the US president, will primarily address the Iranian threat alongside other regional issues including Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

Bardugo emphasized that Israel will not push for specific actions but will present facts and analyses to facilitate a mutual exchange of views. This dialogue comes about six months after the outbreak of the recent conflict "Shechem al Shechem" and aims to explore the path forward. Netanyahu is expected to articulate Israel's need for a new security concept, especially in light of the October events, stating that defending Israel solely from the border is no longer sufficient.

The discussions will also touch on peace agreements and the efforts of regional actors seeking closer ties with Israel. Bardugo noted that these developments could culminate around September, coinciding with a significant event at the United Nations General Assembly, which is anticipated to be larger than initially planned.
