Netanyahu Shares Intelligence on Iran’s Nuclear Site with Trump in Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington to discuss Iran’s nuclear program, the situation in Iran, and the continuation of ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza. Netanyahu will remain in Washington to attend the funeral of late Senator Lindsey Graham alongside Trump and other leaders. According to a report by the New York Post citing an Israeli source, Netanyahu plans to present evidence to Trump that Iran is expanding its nuclear facilities and negotiating in bad faith. Israel has uncovered proof that nuclear centrifuges were recently installed at the fortified Mount Karkas site, near the Natanz nuclear facility, for the first time since construction began in 2020. This underground base, located about 140 meters beneath the mountain, is considered less vulnerable than other sites previously targeted. The absence of nuclear activity there had previously led Trump to avoid striking it. However, Trump has recently indicated a possible willingness to attack the site, with U.S. forces reportedly preparing for a potential ground operation to seize enriched uranium. Israel will also provide intelligence showing that Iran is rebuilding its missile and drone programs after they were heavily damaged in recent U.S. airstrikes. The Israeli intelligence aims to demonstrate that Iran is not serious about abandoning its nuclear ambitions or missile development despite ongoing talks. Netanyahu will also update Trump on efforts to maintain ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza against Iranian-backed proxies. Trump recently halted planned airstrikes amid mediation efforts to stop Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
