Israeli Prison Officer Arrested for Obstructing Murder Investigation in Aviyaor Sasson Case

Israeli authorities continue an intensive manhunt for the suspect in the murder of Aviyaor Sasson, employing extensive operational and intelligence efforts to locate and arrest him. In a joint operation by the Crime Fighting Unit (YALP) of the Jerusalem district and Prison Service investigators, a female prison officer was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the murder investigation and breaching trust by aiding a prisoner connected to the fugitive suspect. The covert investigation began after the Prison Service received information suggesting that the 34-year-old officer from Hod Hasharon, who serves at a central Israel detention facility where a close relative of the suspect is incarcerated, maintained a personal relationship with the relative and allegedly collaborated with him to hinder the investigation and assist the main suspect. The officer was taken for questioning at the YALP offices in Jerusalem, and a decision on whether to bring her before the court will follow based on the findings.
