Israeli Police Officer Investigated for Obstruction in Benyahu Razi Murder Case in Umm al-Fahm
An Israeli police officer from the Traffic Division was questioned under warning on Wednesday by the Jerusalem Police Department's Internal Investigations Unit on suspicion of obstructing justice and breach of trust in connection with the murder investigation of Benyahu Razi in Umm al-Fahm. The officer, a relative of one of the suspects, allegedly met with two suspects shortly after the violent incident, was informed about the event, and took actions that may have hindered the investigation before any arrests were made. She failed to report this meeting to law enforcement authorities as required. Following the interrogation, the officer was released under restrictive conditions including three days of house arrest, an eight-day ban on approaching the case, and a prohibition on contacting those involved.
Earlier on Wednesday, after a request from Walla News, the names of two detainees were released. Shilat Huta, 19, from Beersheba, is one of the young women arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder. Another detainee is Linor Sasson, recently released from prison after serving a sentence for fraud and threats. Police attribute significant involvement in planning the murder to Huta, who denies the allegations. During a recent remand hearing, police stated that Huta "ordered the murder" following an attack on her and her friend, the ex-girlfriend of Benyahu Razi, by Razi and his companion in a Jerusalem apartment.
Police say Huta contacted a criminal acquaintance and showed him bruises via video call, motivating him to attack Razi and his friend. Authorities suspect Huta entered the apartment with the murder suspects and witnessed the killing. The investigation continues as police seek to clarify the full extent of each suspect's role in the crime.
