Jerusalem Court Extends Detention of Suspect in Benyahu Razi Murder Case

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Shilat Huta, a 20-year-old suspect from Beersheba, for an additional four days in connection with the murder of Benyahu Razi in the Nahlaot neighborhood. Investigators presented evidence linking Huta to the crime scene and indicated she played an active role in the murder. During the hearing, Huta claimed that Razi's friend held a knife to her neck and showed the judge a burn injury she said was caused by him with a cigarette. Her defense attorney argued that her involvement was minor and that she neither intended nor planned Razi's death.

Police allege Huta had significant involvement in planning the murder, which she denies. Authorities stated she "ordered the murder" following an attack on her and an accomplice by two young men in an apartment. After leaving the Nahlaot apartment, Huta and an accomplice reportedly went to the home of Linor Sasson, a 50-year-old resident of the Neve Yaakov neighborhood in Jerusalem with a criminal record, including a September 2024 conviction for extortion. Police suspect Sasson facilitated the murder and assisted afterward.

The court noted that the extension of detention was due to procedural needs rather than weakening evidence against Huta. The investigation into Razi's murder continues, with further details about the suspects being released recently. The victim's family has expressed that warning signs were evident prior to the killing.
