Israeli Police Extend Detention of Suspects in Benyahu Razi Murder Case

The Jerusalem Magistrate Court extended the detention of Agam Sarfi, the ex-partner of Benyahu Razi, and her friend Shilat Huta, both suspected of involvement in Razi's murder. Police requested a 10-day extension on July 22, 2026, citing strengthened suspicions and contradictory statements from Sarfi since her last detention extension. Police representative Shimon Malka stated that Sarfi's behavior indicated she regarded Razi's life as worthless, saying, "His life was cut short due to her and another's will."

Authorities allege Sarfi watched the murder unfold via a live video call from Huta, who was at the crime scene. Despite Sarfi's claims that she neither planned nor intended the murder, police presented messages and statements from her made before and during the crime that suggest otherwise. Malka detailed that Sarfi was actively communicating with Razi and one of the main suspects during the murder.

Huta is accused of inciting the perpetrators to violence when the situation did not escalate as she wished, even urging them to punish those who had wronged them. Police revealed that Sarfi sent a threatening message to Razi en route to the scene, stating, "You said Shilat and Agam are whores; I'll show you how to treat kids like you." Sarfi reportedly knew the attackers' intentions and expressed a desire to kill Razi, saying, "I will finish him, he dies today."

The police emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime and the suspects' active roles in orchestrating and encouraging the murder. The court's decision to extend detention reflects the gravity of the evidence against Sarfi and Huta as the investigation continues.
