Jerusalem Court Extends Detention of Woman Suspected in Benyahu Razi Murder

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the detention of 20-year-old Shilat Huta, suspected of involvement in the murder of Benyahu Razi, until Wednesday, July 19, 2026. During the hearing on July 16, the police presented video evidence allegedly showing Huta's active participation in the killing. A police representative stated that Huta "took an active part in the event in every respect."

Huta showed the court a cigarette burn on her arm, claiming it was inflicted by Razi's friend, who also threatened her with a knife. She broke down in tears during the hearing. The police argued that Huta's role was as serious as that of other suspects whose detentions were also extended earlier that day. According to the police, Huta brought the suspects to the apartment where the murder occurred to attack Razi. Huta denied this in her interrogation, saying, "I did not bring them, Linor did. I did not know them at all." The police dismissed her claim as "baseless."

Huta's defense attorney, Amit Weitzman, stated, "My client is not connected to the incident. She got caught up in a violent event; she did not initiate the murder and did not know the perpetrators." The apartment where the murder took place was rented by Huta and her ex-partner, Agam Tzarfati. The police said there was a history of violence between Razi and Tzarfati. Over the weekend, arguments escalated, during which both suspects were attacked, leading them to allegedly decide to harm Razi and his friend. Recent evidence has strengthened suspicions that Tzarfati and Huta were the driving force behind the murder, motivated by revenge for violence they experienced from Razi and his friend at the same apartment in the Nahalat neighborhood.
