Israeli Prison Officer Investigated for Alleged Aid to Suspect in Benyahu Razi Murder Case

An Israeli Prison Service (IPS) officer is under investigation for allegedly assisting the brother of the main suspect in the murder of Benyahu Razi while he was on the run. During questioning, the officer admitted to having an improper personal relationship with inmate Alon Hachmon, the suspect's brother, describing a close bond and emotional connection, including multiple kisses in her office. She acknowledged crossing professional boundaries but denied any criminal assistance related to the murder case.

The officer met Hachmon about two months prior to the investigation and became aware that his brother, Aviaor Shason, was evading police due to the murder charges. She described Hachmon as intelligent and respected within the prison but denied that their relationship was romantic, despite admitting to feelings and frequent conversations. She also communicated with Hachmon's family outside her official duties, acknowledging that some of this conduct was forbidden.

Investigators focused on whether the officer helped Aviaor Shason maintain contact with his brother during his escape. She denied providing a phone or facilitating illegal communications, stating that any messages exchanged were personal and unrelated to the manhunt. She insisted she urged Hachmon to encourage his brother to surrender and denied any involvement in aiding the fugitive.

The officer admitted to improper communications with Linor Shason, a family member, and allowed authorities to examine her phone and computer. She maintained that no evidence would show she assisted in the murder investigation or the escape. Her lawyer, Dror Shalom, claimed the investigation is based on incorrect facts and expects the case to be closed after a thorough review.

The case highlights concerns about professional misconduct within the IPS and the boundaries between staff and inmates, especially in high-profile criminal cases like the murder of Benyahu Razi in Jerusalem.
