Israeli Police Officer Detained for Obstructing Murder Investigation of Benyahu Razi
An Israeli police officer from the Traffic Department was detained and questioned on suspicion of obstructing the investigation into the murder of Benyahu Razi, a 19-year-old killed in Jerusalem. The officer, who is the sister of one of the suspects, allegedly met with two suspects shortly after the murder and was informed about details of the crime but failed to report this to law enforcement authorities.
The officer is suspected of actions intended to disrupt the investigation before the suspects were arrested. Following the interrogation, she was released under restrictive conditions, including three days of house arrest, an eight-day ban on contact with those involved, and a prohibition on approaching the case. The investigation by the Police Investigations Department (Mahash) in Jerusalem is ongoing.
The murder occurred last Saturday in an Airbnb apartment in the Nahlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem. Razi was stabbed to death after being lured to the apartment in a planned ambush. Several suspects have been arrested, including Razi's ex-partner and others suspected of planning and executing the attack. Recently, the judiciary allowed the publication of some suspects' names while the police continue to examine each individual's role in the case.
