Netanyahu Mourns Zehava Shaul, Mother of Fallen Soldier Oron Shaul

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences on the passing of Zehava Shaul, mother of Staff Sergeant Oron Shaul, who was killed in action. Netanyahu extended his sympathies to her sons, Aviram and Ofek, and the entire Shaul family. He recalled the close personal relationship he and his wife, Sara, maintained with the family for over a decade, supporting their efforts to bring Oron back to Israel.

Netanyahu praised Zehava Shaul's unwavering hope and determination throughout the long struggle to recover her son’s remains, noting that even after the death of her husband, Hertzel, she continued her mission with exceptional strength and maternal devotion. He highlighted that Zehava was able to see Oron returned to Israel and laid to rest following a joint operation by the IDF and Shin Bet.

The Prime Minister recounted a conversation with Zehava after Oron's return, where they recited a biblical verse symbolizing hope and reunion: "There is hope for your future," declares the Lord, "and your children shall return to their own land." Netanyahu concluded by expressing solidarity with the Shaul family and the people of Israel, saying, "May her memory be blessed."
