Eilat and Ramat Gan Open Public Shelters Amid Rising Security Concerns

In response to escalating security concerns, the mayors of Eilat and Ramat Gan have ordered the opening of all public bomb shelters in their cities as a precautionary measure. Eilat's Mayor Eli Lankri directed the city's Emergency and Security Department to open shelters and conduct frequent inspections, despite no official change in the Home Front Command's defense policy. Operators of dual-purpose shelters were instructed to be ready for immediate activation upon any alert. The municipality emphasized Eilat's comprehensive defense systems across sea, air, and land, and urged residents to familiarize themselves with their protected spaces and follow official guidelines.

Simultaneously, Ramat Gan's Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen announced a similar directive, urging building committees to refresh their shared shelters. He cited an increased risk of missile attacks from Iran over the weekend, describing the threat as no longer negligible. While acknowledging the costs involved, Shama-Hacohen stressed the importance of heightened caution, hoping the alert would prove unnecessary. Both cities' leadership maintain ongoing coordination with security forces and conduct regular drills to prepare for any scenario.
