Eilat and Ramat Gan Open Public Shelters Ahead of Possible Iran Escalation Without Home Front Command Order

Amid reports of a potential escalation with Iran by the weekend, the mayors of Eilat and Ramat Gan, Eli Lankri and Carmel Shama HaCohen, announced the opening of public bomb shelters despite no directive from the Israeli Home Front Command. In Eilat, Mayor Lankri instructed the emergency and security department to open public shelters and conduct frequent patrols with enforcement units. Shelter operators were also ordered to be ready for immediate opening upon any alert or instruction. The Eilat municipality emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding protected spaces and adherence to Home Front Command guidelines. They also highlighted the city's comprehensive defense measures by sea, air, and land, with security forces continuously conducting drills and maintaining readiness for all scenarios. Similarly, Ramat Gan's Mayor Shama HaCohen declared all city shelters open, stating that although there is no current Home Front Command alert, it is prudent to exercise extra caution.
